Mitsubishi and the Alliance advantage
Mitsubishi sits inside the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance — the world's largest automotive partnership by volume. For key programming, that matters: much of the immobilizer architecture Mitsubishi deployed across the Outlander, Eclipse Cross, and Mirage generations draws from Alliance-shared platforms that our Nissan-trained tooling already covers. We don't need brand-specific dealer credentials on most Mitsubishi models.
The Outlander is the dominant Mitsubishi model in Charlotte — Outlander and Outlander PHEV show up in South End apartment garages, University City lots, and Lake Norman driveways. Mechanical Key
Basic cut key without electronic chip. Found on older Mirage base trims and pre-2001 Mitsubishi models before the FAST Key system rolled out fleet-wide.

Mitsubishi FAST Key (Transponder)
Mitsubishi's branded transponder system — chip embedded in the key blade that communicates with the immobilizer control module. If the chip doesn't authenticate, the engine won't start even with the correct blade cut. FAST Key is Mitsubishi's standard across most 2001–2016 models.
Outlander ES/LS, Mirage G4, Galant, Eclipse, Endeavor — base and mid trims.
Remote Head Key
Lock/unlock/panic buttons integrated into the key head as one unit. Found on mid-tier Outlander trims and older Montero Sport.

Mitsubishi Keyless Operation System (Proximity)
Mitsubishi's push-to-start proximity key. Walk-up unlock, push-button ignition. The same model year can have either FAST Key (base) or Keyless Operation (premium) depending on trim level — confirm before quoting.

How do I know if my Mitsubishi has a FAST Key transponder or Keyless Operation proximity key?+
Trim level is the most reliable guide. Outlander ES and LS base trims, Outlander Sport lower trims, and Mirage G4 typically have FAST Key transponder blades. Outlander SE and SEL, Eclipse Cross SE and SEL, and Outlander PHEV are Keyless Operation proximity. If you're not sure of your trim, your VIN identifies the exact key system in 30 seconds — no guessing.
What is the FAST Key system?+
FAST Key is Mitsubishi's branded name for their transponder immobilizer system. The key blade contains a small electronic chip that broadcasts an encrypted signal matching the vehicle's PCM. If the signal doesn't match — wrong chip, unprogrammed key, or dead chip — the engine won't start even with the correct blade cut. FAST Keys must be programmed, not just cut.
Can you do Outlander PHEV keys?+
Yes. The Outlander PHEV uses the same Keyless Operation proximity key system as the regular Outlander SEL/GT. The plug-in hybrid drivetrain doesn't change the key architecture. All-keys-lost on a PHEV may take slightly longer because we coordinate with the hybrid battery management system — we flag this before dispatch so there are no surprises on time.
Does the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance affect key programming?+
It means our tooling that covers Nissan also extends through much of the Mitsubishi lineup — particularly FAST Key-generation models where the underlying immobilizer architecture has Alliance commonality. This is one reason we carry strong Mitsubishi coverage without needing brand-specific dealer credentials on most models.
What about the Mitsubishi Mirage — that's a very basic car. Are keys expensive?+
The Mirage and Mirage G4 are among the more affordable Mitsubishi key jobs. Older Mirages use FAST Key transponder ($125–$195 range). The basic nature of the car means the security architecture is also relatively straightforward. AKL adder applies if no working key is present.
Do you service legacy Montero and Endeavor?+
Yes — Montero Sport and Endeavor are older platforms (late 1990s–2008) with transponder or remote head systems that fall well within our standard service window. These are less common calls but we handle them. VIN check confirms the exact system before dispatch.
Is there a service call fee if you can't help?+
