NATS stands for Nissan Anti-Theft System — the transponder security platform shared between Nissan and Infiniti (Infiniti is Nissan's luxury brand). The NATS chip in the key broadcasts an encrypted signal that the vehicle's PCM (powertrain control module) must verify before allowing the engine to start. Infiniti's Intelligent Key adds proximity sensing on top of the same NATS encryption layer. How do I know if my Infiniti QX60 has NATS transponder or Intelligent Key?+
Trim level is the most reliable indicator. QX60 Pure (base) typically uses NATS transponder. QX60 Premium, Sensory, and Autograph trims use Intelligent Key. This split is critical — the same QX60 in the same model year can have either system depending on trim. If you're unsure, find your VIN. Is there a service call fee if you can't complete the job?+
