GMC Acadia Key Replacement
The Acadia has three distinct generations — and each generation uses a completely different key system. If the blank we're quoting doesn't match what you expect, year and generation matter more on the Acadia than almost any other GMC model.
First-gen Acadia (2007–2016) was a large Lambda-platform SUV — substantial vehicle, remote fob entry (OUC60221), no push-to-start. Second-gen (2017–2023) shrank significantly onto the C1 platform and gained push-to-start with HYQ1EA (2017–2021), then HYQ1ES for the mid-cycle update (2022–2023). Third-gen (2024+) is a full redesign and uses YG0G21TB2 — the same platform as the current Sierra and Yukon.

- 2007–2016: Also listed as OUC60270 — same key family, interchangeable. 2007–2010: DIY self-programming possible. 2011+: locksmith or dealer programming required.
- 2017–2021: Second gen is significantly smaller than first gen — completely different vehicle. All trims use HYQ1EA.
- 2022–2023: HYQ1ES is not interchangeable with HYQ1EA blanks despite same push-to-start system.
- 2024–2025: GMT1 third-gen redesign — same key platform as 2022+ Sierra and 2021+ Yukon.

Common issues we see with GMC Acadia in Charlotte
- First-gen (2007–2016): dead CR2032 battery is the #1 call. Mechanical key still opens the door — no lockout, just no remote entry or start.
- Generation confusion is common. First-gen Acadia (2007–2016) is a large full-size SUV; second-gen (2017+) is a compact crossover. Year matters more on the Acadia than on most GMC models.
- Second-gen all-keys-lost (2017–2023) requires professional programming. No DIY recovery once all paired fobs are gone.
- Third-gen (2024+) key is not compatible with second-gen blanks — different platform, different FCC ID. Verify year before booking.
Why not the GMC dealer?
Randy Marion Buick GMC (Huntersville) handles all three Acadia generations but first-gen blanks (OUC60221) can require a 3–5 day parts order. We stock OUC60221 and HYQ1EA year-round.
