The Ram 1500 changed key platforms once in this generation window. DS-platform trucks (2013–2018) use the FOBIK flip key — a uniquely Chrysler design where the metal blade folds into the fob body. Base Tradesman and Express trims got the GQ4-53T remote fob (no push-to-start); upper trims with push-button start use the GQ4-54T proximity key. The DT-platform (2019+) moved all trims to the OHT-4882056 smart key — a distinct blank not interchangeable with any FOBIK stock.

- 2013–2018 (Tradesman / Express / SLT — no push-start): DS platform base trims. Blade folds into fob body — Chrysler-specific design. Snapped blade requires full key+fob replacement.
- 2013–2018 (Big Horn / Laramie / Longhorn / Limited — push-start): DS platform push-start trims. PN 68288425. Looks similar to GQ4-53T but has proximity antenna — not interchangeable.
- 2019–2023 (DT platform — all trims including TRX): DT platform. PN 68584153AA. Silver-accent sides. 5B standard; 6B with remote start. All trims — Tradesman through TRX. Not interchangeable with DS-generation FOBIK.

Common issues we see with Ram Ram 1500 in Charlotte
- FOBIK blade snaps from heavy keychain use — common on working trucks with multiple keys and fobs on the ring. Recutting the blade alone is not possible; the full key+fob assembly must be replaced.
- Ordering the wrong blank: GQ4-53T and GQ4-54T look nearly identical. The smart proximity version has an internal antenna — mixing them up at an auto-parts store is the most common Ram DIY failure.
- All-keys-lost on push-start models has no at-home workaround. The SKREEM transponder module must be reprogrammed by a locksmith or dealer.
- 2019+ DT Ram 1500 owners who order DS-generation FOBIK blanks online get the wrong part. OHT-4882056 is platform-specific and not backward-compatible.
